Electronic Life: So many people seem so concerned about what's appropriate at a rave...
- what’s approprite to wear
- what’s an appropriate age
- what’s an appropriate drug even..
But everyone seems so judgemental. Too skimpy an outift: a girl is a slut. Someone older than college kids: too old. Not rolling or on drugs: your a weirdo.
We sit here and watch…
I have always contradicted myself when it came to this. I was concerned about the seasoned vets and what they would think of me in my lime green suspenders and hot pink shorts, but I head the most wonderful thing I have ever heard a DJ yell out:
“OLD MEETS NEW, PUSH THEM THROUGH”
And everyone grabbed each other and just started holding on and feeling the beat, going wild in the quagmire of personalities. Everyone complimented me, wanted to talk to me, and I felt truly at home. It was WONDERFUL!
It really was like the passing of the torch, total acceptance into the scene as a newbling baby raver was the best feeling I could have ever imagined.
I got a late night text from a random number that night, probably from this older woman who I had a conversation about, and given kandi to, all it said was “PLUR BABY”
….and I realized I was home :D
